Privacy policy

The instrument is built to need no personal data. This policy states exactly what happens, in line with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (Regulation 2016/679).

Who is responsible

The data controller is:

Prof. Salvatore Di Dio
Associate Professor of Design
University of Palermo, Department of Architecture
Viale delle Scienze, Ed. 8, 90128 Palermo, Italy
Enquiries: salvatore.didio@unipa.it

What the tool does with your answers

The interview runs entirely in your browser. Your ratings and your written notes are held on your device so that you can leave and resume, and they are cleared when you choose to start over. Your written notes are never transmitted anywhere, under any circumstance.

What is collected, and only with your consent

Before the interview begins you are asked whether you wish to contribute to the research. If you agree, and only then, the following is sent when you finish or leave: the thirty ratings from 0 to 3, the dimension you reached, whether you completed the interview, whether you downloaded the report, and a random session identifier generated in your browser. No name, no email address, no IP address and no free text are transmitted. The record cannot be traced back to you or to your organisation. If you decline, nothing is sent and the tool works exactly the same.

The purpose is the one stated in the underlying study: to keep the diagnostic grid under revision and to identify which design knowledge teams most often lack. The legal basis is your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you may withhold at any time by declining. Because the records carry no identifier linking them to a person, they cannot be individually retrieved or deleted after submission; this is an intentional consequence of collecting no personal data. Contributions are stored in a spreadsheet held by the data controller and are retained for the duration of the research.

Usage statistics

Visits are counted with GoatCounter, which sets no cookies, stores no personal data and does not track you across sites. This is why you see no cookie banner: the site sets no cookies for tracking.

Voice input

Answering by speaking is optional. If you use it on Chrome, Edge or Safari, your browser sends the audio to its own speech service (Google or Apple respectively) to transcribe it, in the same way as dictation elsewhere on your device, and their terms apply to that step. The site itself neither receives nor stores audio. You can switch voice off and type instead at any time. Having questions read aloud sends nothing anywhere.

Contact form

If you write to us through the contact form, what you enter (your message, the email address you give, the topic you select, and your name if you provide it) is transmitted by Web3Forms, which delivers it to the controller's mailbox. Use the email address above if you would rather not use the form.

Your rights

Where personal data exist, you have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection, and the right to lodge a complaint with the Italian Data Protection Authority (Garante per la protezione dei dati personali). In practice, the only personal data this site can hold is what you voluntarily write in the contact form.
